Sarah is a thoughtful and engaged leader with over 15 years of experience in public health, start-ups, and nonprofits. Sarah is the Director of Communications for the Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a statewide nonprofit working to improve the well-being of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and partnership. Sarah holds a Masters in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago with a dual concentration in Leadership Development in Social Services and Health, and a BA in English from Colby College in Maine. She loves being on (or in) the water in any capacity and finding art projects to occupy her free time. A proud public school graduate, Sarah lives in Lake City with her husband, two young kids, and a bevy of animals.

Olympic Hills Elementary PTA Advocacy Chair (2022-23)
Debbie manages the Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition advancing stronger early learning services and systems throughout Snohomish County. They were a 2023 Seattle School Board candidate who received numerous endorsements, including from the Seattle Education Association. Debbie has spent their professional career working in the nonprofit sector. Over the years, they have worked at the Children’s Alliance, Queer Power Alliance (an organization they co-founded), and NAMI Washington. Debbie also has a teaching background and taught English as a Second Language for 6 years and preschool at a childcare center.
Debbie has served on boards such as the Best Start for Kids Advisory Board, the Seattle Housing Levy Oversight Committee, and the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission. Currently she serves on the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington’s executive board as the Education and Training Chair and the Executive Board of the 46th Dems.
They are passionate about education and the alignment between early learning and the K-12 systems. Debbie is running for SCPTSA Executive Board to better support PTAs across the district, advocate to fully fund education across the state, and ground the work of the SCPTSA in racial, LGBTQIA+, and disability equity.

McClure Middle School PTSA President (2021-23)
As a seasoned leader with over 10 years of experience in customer service and project management, Janai brings a proven track record of productivity. She currently has her real estate license for the state of Washington and is serving with Keller Williams. Her educational background consists of a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois of Champaign-Urbana, and she has an MBA from Colorado Technical University. Janai has received her Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certifications, as well. She is a member of Magnolia Chamber of Commerce and a PCO for the 36th Democratic District. Dedicated to community development, Janai is a cohort member of Emerge and former PTSA President for McClure Middle School. She is a wife and mother of three girls and volunteers with the PTSA. Janai believes it will take a village to cultivate and build a better future. Desiring to assist in her community, Janai would like to offer her unique skill set to the Board of SCPTSA and hopes to continue to assist communities across the city.

Dunlap Elementary PTSA President (2023-24)
Alex is a proud SPS alum (Whittier, Whitman, Ballard) and parent of a rising 2nd grader at Dunlap Elementary and a preschooler. She’s a pragmatic problem solver who’s activated by anti-racist teachings and collaboration. In addition to PTSA, her volunteer leadership experience includes past roles of Co-Chair of the Jackson Place Community Council, and member of the City of Seattle’s Transit Advisory Board and Move Seattle Levy Oversight Committee. After spending a decade in education, teaching and mentoring low-income high school students in King County and elsewhere, she received a Master’s of Public Administration degree at the University of Washington. For the last decade she’s worked for the federal government and City of Seattle in government accountability, performance evaluation, policy, and budgeting.
She and her husband–with support from extended family, friends, educators, and childcare providers–are raising two kids in their lovely community of Rainier Beach. She aims to lead by demonstrating inclusion and respect, listening longer, supporting those most vulnerable or historically harmed, and collaborating with and learning from others.

BF Day PTSA President (2022-24)
As a first generation immigrant who moved to the U.S. when she was 9 years old, Jane is intimately aware of the importance of specialized education programs that address the different needs of the students. She is an SPS parent to a rising 4th grader at BF Day Elementary and a rising 6th grader at Hamilton International Middle School. Both kids are raised in a bilingual environment.
She is an empathetic and seasoned leader with over 15 years of experience in technical program management, spanning across corporate, start-up, health, and nonprofit sectors. Influencing without authority is her special power. She's also a Co-Chair to the Software Engineering Committee at GHC (the world's largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists). She's very passionate about bringing opportunities and equity to all. Jane looks forward to contributing to the SCPTSA and the wider community with her "Jack of all trades" skill set.
Treasurer
Robert Eagle Staff Middle School Co-President (2019-20), Co-Treasurer (2020-22), Hamilton International Middle School Co-Treasurer (2022-25)
Ruchita has served on PTSA boards for 5 years in Co-President and Co-Treasurer capacities. She believes personalized education is the critical pathway to raising global citizens and creating an equitable future for all our students. An immigrant born and raised in India, she immigrated to Seattle in 2006 and knows first-hand the struggles of navigating a new country, new language, and new systems.
As a Human Resources professional, Ruchita is an expert in organizational management software and systems. She also owns and operates after-school enrichment programs teaching Lego Engineering and Robotics within Seattle Public Schools, with connections at 20 different SPS schools. Her education in India allowed her opportunities to pursue degrees in Chemistry, Math, Computer Science, and a Masters in Marketing & Finance. Ruchita has two children, one in Japanese Immersion at Hamilton International Middle School, and another on the HCC pathway at Ingraham High School. She is passionate about ensuring every SPS child has the educational opportunities they need to pursue their dreams.
